The in-screed cable system is a low cost solution for new builds & extensions where a new sand & cement screed is being poured. This cable is also ideal for use below thick stone & flagstone type flooring.

Room Type

Floor Covering

Tile/stone/slate

Laminate / hardwood floating floor

Other, eg capet/vinyl

Conservatory

200w/sqm cable mat system, or cable kit system (min 150w per sqm) - on insulated floor using tile-backer insulation board or other suitable insulation system

160w carbon heating film & if possible 2 layers of 6mm Depron insulating underlay (especially if floor is not insulated!)

If no screed is down, you can use our heavy duty in-screed cable, otherwise you may have to use the 160w carbon film & overlay with plywood. Please contact us for further advice.

Wet Room (eg bathroom/en-suite)

Cable kit system at min 150w/sqm on insulated floor using tile-backer board or other suitable insulation. Depending on the room & the available floor space, it it is not always possible for ufh to provide sole source heating in a bathroom. We recommend supplementing with heated towel rails or contact us for advice.

There are options for this situation, including our unique 'heat board' which is an aluminium board with pre-set grooves to house the heating cable.

This system requires advice so you will need to contact us for details.

If no screed is down, you can use our heavy duty in-screed cable. If installing onto a timber floor, you may be able to use our 'heatboard' system & overlay this will a thin plywood.

Please contact us for specialist advice.

Other room type (e.g kitchen/lounge/office etc)

Cable kit system OR cable mat at 150w/sqm on insulated floor. Note for small kitchens with a limited amount of available floor space (after deducting area taken up by units etc), ufh may not always be able to provide the sole heat source for the room in winter. Please contact us for advice.
130w carbon film system with single layer of 6mm depron insulation/underlay.

Note: If installing in a small kitchen with limited floor space, we would recommend you contact us as you may need the 160w film instead.

If no screed is down, you can use our heavy duty in-screed cable, otherwise you may have to use the 130w carbon film & overlay with plywood. Please contact us for further advice.

Primary heating
In most cases the system can be used as the primary/main source of room heating. Note the underfloor heating systems ability to provide a primary heating source is based on the room having adequate levels of insulation - if you are installing in an old, poorly insulated property, we strongly recommend that you contact us for advice or have a heat-loss calculation done to ensure the system will meet your requirements.
